Strok's Restaurant DescriptionTaplow House is renowned for its tulip trees, one of which was planted by Queen Elizabeth 1. When not occupied by tree-spotting you could indulge in a little appetite-inducing croquet in the superb grounds. Once at table try the Thai crab cakes on a bed of wild roquete with orange dressing, before moving on to medallions of beef fillet on a ragout of wild mushrooms and shallots with whiskey and truffle gravy. The citrus tart with wild berry compote and clotted cream would make an elegant finish to what some might see as slight over indulgence. There is a dedication to good food here which comes through clearly. A thought-provoking wine list with house wine at £18.
